Illinois Quick Hits: Slight drop in fuel prices reported Monday
(The Center Square) – Fuel prices have dropped in recent days, according to AAA.
The average Illinois price for regular unleaded on Monday was $4.78 per gallon, down 1 cent from Sunday and 13 cents from one week ago. The average Illinois price one year ago was $3.38.
The average per-gallon price for diesel in Illinois was $6.79 on Monday, down a penny from Sunday. The state’s average price for diesel one year ago was $3.75, more than three dollars lower than Monday’s price.
WAUCONDA TEACHER DETAINED ON CHILD SEX ABUSE MATERIAL CHARGES
A Wauconda public school teacher and coach is charged with dissemination and possession of child sex abuse material.
According to the Lake & McHenry County Scanner, John M. Anderlik, 27, of Crystal Lake described teaching as “perfect” for furthering his desire to engage in sex acts with children. Anderlik is a sixth-grade teacher and girls basketball coach at Matthews Middle School in Island Lake.
McHenry County Judge Jennifer L. Johnson granted prosecutors’ request to detain Anderlik pending trial.
DETAINEE CONVICTED OF ASSAULTING CORRECTIONAL OFFICERS
A federal jury has convicted a Chicago man of assaulting correctional officers at a Kankakee detention center in 2023.
Prosecutors said Jermaine Turner, 27, assaulted two officers at Jerome Combs Detention Center with a wooden broom handle, causing one of them to suffer a large hematoma in the head.
Turner is currently serving a 10-year sentence for armed bank robbery.
FED REPORTS INCREASE IN U.S. COMMERCIAL PAPER OUTSTANDING
The Federal Reserve says U.S. commercial paper outstanding grew to $1.46 trillion in the week ending Sept. 23, an increase of $19.8 billion from a week earlier.
Commercial paper comprises short-term, promissory notes issued mostly by corporations.
